New Beer and Wine Permits

HOW DO I OBTAIN AN APPLICATION FOR A NEW ALCOHOL BEVERAGE PERMIT?
Applications are obtained from and processed by the Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission. You can either send a written request or print an application from their website.

HOW DOES MY APPLICATION GET PROCESSED?
New applications must be processed by the TABC.

WHEN DO I GET MY PERMIT?
once TABC has completely processed your application you will receive, by mail, the original permit which must be displayed in plain view on the premises selling the alcohol beverages.

WHAT IS THE COST OF THE PERMIT?
The type of permit you are getting determines the amount of cost so please contact TABC at (512) 451-0231

HOW DOES MY NEW PERMIT APPLICATION OR MY RENEWAL GET PROCESSED?
An application for a new permit must be processed by TABC; however, the Waller County Tax Office must process your renewal application and issue a temporary receipt if the following have been done or are available:

  • The application is complete.
  • All copies are signed by the owner and notarized


  • Applications mailed to TABC must also conform to the above conditions.

    All state and county fees and surcharges must be paid upon acceptance of the application by the Tax Office.

    Beer and Wine Renewals

    WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT WILL BE ACCEPTED?
    The Waller County Tax Office will accept cash, checks, money orders, and credit cards with proper identification.

    WHERE IS THE TAX OFFICE LOCATED?
    Beer and wine renewals can be handled at the Waller County Tax Office between the hours of 7:00 AM - 6:00 PM, Monday - Friday.

    WHEN CAN I RENEW A BEER & WINE PERMIT?
    This type of permit cannot be renewed more than 30 days in advance of the expiration date. A late fee in the amount of $100 will be added if you renew between the 1st and 30th day following the renew date.

    WHAT HAPPENS IF I DO NOT RENEW A PERMIT?
    If you fail to renew your permit within 30 days following your expiration date, then you will be required to cease selling alcoholic beverages and you must re-file an application with TABC.

    Liquor Permit

    HOW DO I OBTAIN A LIQUOR PERMIT?
    The Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission handles the processing for all liquor licensing. You must obtain the application from TABC, complete the application, and submit it along with payment of all fees and charges.

    WHAT IS THE COST OF A LIQUOR PERMIT?
    You must obtain the state fees and surcharges from TABC. The TABC application fees and surcharges do not include the fees that are due to Waller County which is 1/2 of the state fee.

    WHERE DO I RENEW MY LIQUOR PERMIT?
    You need to call the local TABC office at (512) 451-0231 for additional information.

    HOW DO I RENEW AN EXISTING TABC PERMIT?
    TABC will mail a renewal notice to you and you need to contact our office for the fee due which is 1/2 of the state fee.
