Marks & Brands

In accordance with Article 144.041 of the Agriculture Code MARKS AND BRANDS TO BE RECORDED. (a) Each person who owns cattle, hogs, sheep, or goats shall record that person’s earmarks, brands, tattoos, and electronic devices with the county clerk of the county in which the animals are located.

Article 144.044. RECORDING. (a).   Not later than six months after August 30 of 1981 and of every 10th year thereafter, each person who owns livestock mentioned in this chapter shall have that person’s mark and brands recorded with the county clerk, regardless of whether or not the marks or brands have been previously recorded.

1. After the expiration of six months from each recording under this section, the marks and brands recorded prior to recording under this section have nor force and effect and only the records made after each recording under this section may be examined or considered in recording marks and brands in the county.

FEE SCHEDULE:

     $11.00 per brand/per location
     (if same brand/different location, additional fee of $5.00 applies)

WALK IN:

     Marks & Brands Application are provided and may be filled out in our office. 
     The application includes:
          Name
          Address
          Phone
          Brand and the location on the animal.
          Name of owner
          Signature by owner/agent

A Certificate of Registration of Marks & Brands will be issued once the application is filled out and signed in our office. 

Our office does not take debit or credit as forms of payment.  Forms of payment include cash, personal check, money order or cashier’s check.

*Closed for lunch from 12:00 (noon) to 1:00 PM

MAIL IN:
Our office has a Marks & Brand Application form you can request to be mailed to you.  Fill out the application and return the completed form with the filing fee to register your brand.
