Hurricane Ike and Dolly – Disaster Recovery Program
Waller County is in the process of applying for Round 2.2 of the Disaster Recovery Program from the Texas General Land Office. This program is a Community Development Block Grant.
A work group was appointed on October 27, 2011 to address Waller County’s Fair Housing Impediments. This is the first step of the grant process. The members that have been appointed are:

The first meeting is November 1, 2011 at 1pm. The meeting will take place at the Waller County Courthouse in Hempstead, TX. At this meeting, the work group members will elect the Chair, Secretary and Data Collection Chair for the group.

 

11/02/2011:
At the work group meeting on November 1, 2011, Kimberly MacPherson was elected the Chair, Beth Ewing was elected the Secretary, and Gloria Richardson was elected the Data Collection Chair.

The work group is still in the process of completing the Fair Housing Activity Statement-Texas (FHAST) Form. Once it has been completed, a copy will be available on this website and a public comment period will begin. More information on the completed FHAST Form and public comment period will be given at a later date.

Waller County will now have a 10 day public comment period regarding the completed form. 11/16/2011:
The 10 day public comment period will end Sunday, November 20, 2011. A public meeting to discuss Waller County applying for the Disaster Recovery Grant will be held Monday, November 21, 2011 at 5:15pm. This meeting will take place at the Recreation Center in Hempstead, Texas. For more information about this public hearing, please see the link below.
Public Notice
A second public hearing to discuss Waller County’s FHAST Form will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at 9am, during Commissioners Court. This meeting will take place on the 2nd floor of the Waller County Courthouse in Hempstead, Texas.

 


12/07/2011:
The 10 day public comment period ended Sunday, November 20, 2011. The General Land Office approved Waller County’s FHAST Form and there were no public comments made to the County Judge’s Office or during the public hearings. Therefore, during Commissioners Court, on November 22, 2011, the court approved the adoption of the FHAST Form, the submission of the application, the memoranda of understanding between participating entities, and the grievance and complaint procedures.
Waller County will now proceed with the application process. Information regarding the Section 504 Grievance Procedures or the Citizen Complaint Procedures can be found in the County Judge’s Office at 836 Austin St., Ste. 203, Hempstead, TX.
